/seed
Displays the world seed of the current world. The seed determines terrain generation.
Overview
Displays the world seed of the current world. The seed determines terrain generation. In vanilla Minecraft Java Edition it is one of the world commands and has been available since version 1.0.
/seed takes no arguments at all — you type it exactly as shown and it acts on the current context immediately.
In singleplayer, /seed is available without cheats. On multiplayer servers, it requires operator permissions. The seed is displayed as a clickable link that copies to clipboard.
The seed is fixed when the world is generated and cannot be changed afterwards; /seed only reveals it.
The number it prints is the same value you can type into the Seed field on the Create New World screen to regenerate identical terrain, structures and biome placement.
Knowing the seed lets external tools and chunk-base style finders calculate the exact positions of strongholds, slime chunks and biome borders before you ever explore them.
