Overview

Teleports entities to a location, another entity, or adjusts their rotation. Full form of /tp with extended facing options. In vanilla Minecraft Java Edition it is one of the player commands and has been available since version 1.13.

It is invoked as /teleport [] | [] [facing ] [facing entity ] and accepts one required argument () and 4 optional arguments ([targets], [rotation], [facingLocation], and [facingEntity]).

/teleport is an alias — /tp behaves identically, so you can use whichever you prefer.

In Java Edition, cross-dimension teleporting requires /execute in run teleport. The facing keyword allows orienting the entity after teleporting.

The 'facing' clause orients the entity after the move; cross-dimension teleports require /execute in run teleport.

Syntax & Arguments

/teleport [<targets>] <destination>|<location> [<rotation>] [facing <facingLocation>] [facing entity <facingEntity> <facingAnchor>]

The full syntax is /teleport [] | [] [facing ] [facing entity ]. Angle brackets < > mark required arguments and square brackets [ ] mark optional ones; a vertical bar | between words means you pick exactly one of those literals. You must always supply . The arguments [targets], [rotation], [facingLocation], and [facingEntity] may be omitted, in which case the documented default applies.

targets
Optional, of type an entity. The entity or entities to teleport.
destination
Required, of type an entity. Target entity or coordinates to teleport to.
rotation
Optional, of type a rotation. The yaw and pitch.
facingLocation
Optional, of type a vec3. Coordinates to face after teleporting (used with 'facing' keyword).
facingEntity
Optional, of type an entity. An entity to face after teleporting (used with 'facing entity' keywords).

Examples

The 3 examples below are ready to copy and adapt. For instance, /teleport @s 0 100 0 facing 0 64 0 teleports you to 0,100,0 and rotates you to face coordinates 0,64,0. Each example varies the arguments to show a different real use of /teleport; read the note under every snippet to see exactly what changes.

/teleport @s 0 100 0 facing 0 64 0

Teleports you to 0,100,0 and rotates you to face coordinates 0,64,0.

/teleport @e[type=villager] ~ ~5 ~

Teleports all villagers 5 blocks upward.

/teleport @p @r

Teleports the nearest player to a random player.

Permission Level & Requirements

/teleport sits at permission Level 2 - Game Master / Cheats, which means it needs permission level 2, the level cheats grant to single-player worlds and that operators hold by default.

In a single-player world you must have "Allow Cheats" turned on (or open the world to LAN with cheats) before it will run; on a multiplayer server the player needs to be an operator at the matching level.

This reference describes the Java Edition 1.21 form of the command; Bedrock Edition may use slightly different argument formats.

Common Mistakes

Notes

In Java Edition, cross-dimension teleporting requires /execute in <dimension> run teleport. The facing keyword allows orienting the entity after teleporting.
